Board of Equalization and Appeal Information
  • The Weber County Board of Equalization (BoE) reviews property value disputes based on current market value, not taxes.
  • The Board can raise or lower your property’s value depending on the evidence provided.
  • You may only appeal the current total market value and property characteristics as of January 1, 2025.
    • You cannot appeal only parts of your property (e.g., garage, house, outbuilding).
    • You cannot appeal prior year values.
  • A completed appeal form and all supporting evidence must be submitted by midnight on September 15, 2025.
  • Supporting documents may include:
    • Recent comparable sales
    • Contractor estimates (if appealing due to property condition)
    • Photos and written description of adverse property features
  • Each parcel usually requires a separate application unless parcels are identical and adjacent.
  • If your appeal is based on property conditions, include contractor bids or estimates.
  • If your appeal is based on property characteristics, provide clear descriptions and supporting documentation.
  • The Tax Notice will be mailed in October.
    • If you haven’t received a response from the BoE by November 30, pay the original tax bill to avoid penalties.
    • If your appeal is successful after payment, a refund will be issued for any overpayment.
  • Falsifying or misrepresenting information may lead to criminal prosecution.
  • If this appeal involves Qualified Real Property, the inflation adjusted value may alter the burden of proof. For more information on qualified real property, please see: Qualified Real Property
